Dr. Merit Kabugo
Merit Kabugo is a Lecturer and Head of the Department of Linguistics, English Language Studies and Communication Skills at Makerere University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts in Linguistics degree from Makerere University. He also holds a PhD in African Languages from Stellenbosch University. He specializes in the areas of Applied Linguistics, Discourse Analysis, Translation and Linguistic Anthropology. Merit has won various individual and collaborative research grants, fellowships and awards from organizations like the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), SIDA, the Centre for Research on Environmental Decisions (CRED), the African Doctoral Academy (ADA), the French Institute for Research in Africa (IFRA), the Andrew W Mellon Foundation, PANGeA, the European Association of Social Anthropology (EASA), among others.
